Blaze a Trail

Arlington Heights has established bike trails throughout the community that help bike enthusiasts easily  and safely traverse the community. If you enjoy on-foot travel more, our Downtown, the heart of our community, is very walkable and enjoyable, and the same is true of our many neighborhoods.  Whether taking a stroll, jog or riding a bike, take in all of the details that make Arlington Heights a beautiful community!

The Village's Bike  & Pedestrian Advisory Commission hosts community bike rides to acquaint local cyclists with the Village's network of bikeways. Check our event calendar for these upcoming events.

And don't worry if you are a walker or runner, there are many runs/walks held throughout the warmer months - and even the Santa Run in December - watch our event calendar for these activities.

The Village's Walk Arlington initiative was started to encourage residents to get out and walk our community, and see how easy it is to reach a destination by walking.  "Walk Arlington, Explore It One Step at a Time" emphasizes health and fitness while promoting ecologically sound transportation. It also helps people recognize the walkability of our neighborhoods, businesses, parks, library and attractions of Arlington Heights.

Lake Arlington is a beautiful place for a walk any time of the year - or bike ride in the warmer months. The 1.8 mile path around the lake is an inviting place to enjoy a peaceful walk or,  take a paddle or sail boat ride by renting the equipment from the Park District's Boat House located at Lake Arlington, just north of Palatine Road on Windsor.
