Santa Run

“Sleigh bells ring… Are you list’nin’?” Wait, what?!  Ok, no one really wants to be ‘walking in a winter wonderland’ just yet, but there is a holiday tradition you may want to start planning for - the 2018 Rotary Santa Run.

Save the date, December 1, 2018, to participate in the oldest holiday run in the region: a 5K (3.1 mile) Run/Walk sponsored by the Rotary Club of Arlington Heights. Register today to keep your name off of Santa’s Naughty List. You might even say you’d be #RunningforaClaus !

Don’t worry about what to wear. Your registration includes a five-piece Santa suit to proudly adorn, along with 2000 or so other participants, as part of the Santa wave flowing through the streets of Arlington Heights. You can also be fashion forward by purchasing a 100% polyester dri-fit long sleeve t-shirt for a $20 donation or a logo sweatshirt for a $30 donation.

The sooner you plan, the easier on your wallet. Register for the 11th Annual Rotary Santa Run for only $35 if you do it before October 31. Race registration will be $40 from November 1 - 30, and on race day, it’s $45. There are discounts for children under 12 as well: $25 until October 31, $30 from November 1 - 30, and $35 on race day.

The little ones are not left out, with a four-block Reindeer Run for the 10 and under crowd. It’s just before the start of the big race, and each runner gets a set of antlers to personalize with their registration of $5. Do not fret; children are never out of sight of their parents’ watchful eyes or their video-recording phones.

But aside from the obvious fun and holiday cheer the Santa Run provides, the main purpose is to generate funds for all the good Rotary does in the world - locally, nationally, and globally. In our area, the Rotary Club of Arlington Heights awards community grants to organizations that work to improve the lives of children, seniors, and the mentally and physically challenged.
